Ketamine Assisted EMDR™

About Ketamine Assisted EMDR™

Ketamine Assisted EMDR™ is a psychotherapy model incorporating low dose, sublingual Ketamine during the reprocessing phase of EMDR. Having studied directly with the developers of this technique, I am now certified in Ketamine Assisted EMDR™ https://www.ketamineassistedemdr.com/directory

This is a psycholytic approach meaning that unlike in a psychedelic session, only low doses of Ketamine are used. The Ketamine is prescribed by a medical provider and is self-administered by the client, in the presence of the therapist, at the most ideal time to support the EMDR work. Working with a medical provider is required, as I do not prescribe, handle or administer any medication.

There is a powerful synergy between Ketamine and EMDR. Individually, both methods are able to help ‘loosen’ memory node networks in service of facilitate change the way traumatic memory is stored and in the beliefs formed in the face of the unresolved trauma. Low dose ketamine typically has a calming effect and helps calm protective/defensive patterns. This can reduce emotional overwhelm and create easier access to the ‘compassionate witness’ position which allows the EMDR process to flow more easily and powerfully. Ketamine enhances neuroplasticity which helps in the formation of new connections and new perspectives. This allows for deeper cognitive and emotional shifts during the reprocessing phase of EMDR.
